The “Big Three” were made up of France’s George Clemenceau, Great Britain’s David Lloyd George, and the United State’s Woodrow Wilson. They all had different motives at this integral conference. Nationalism was seen at the Paris peace conference in Clemenceau and Lloyd George while Wilson’s motives were based more predominantly on world peace. Motive at the Paris peace conference were to some extent based in Nationalism.
The original group that was ment to draft the treaty of Versailles actually had four members which were Great Britain, USA, France, and Italy. This explains why there were four people in the picture. Italy’s Prim Mister, Vittorio Orlando had joined the paris peace conference because he was promised land but after his first days he realized this would not be possible and left the conference to make his own deal with germany. He also did not speak great english thus he had trouble communicating with the other leaders. The members of the big three, who actually drafted the treaty of versailles, were Georges Clemenceau, the Prime Minister of France he sought revenge, and to punish the Germans for what they had done. He also wanted to weaken Germany, so France never be invaded again. He wanted justice not revenge and said “peace must not be harsh”. He tried to get a halfway point, a compromise between Wilson and Clemenceau. he also wanted their old colonies so he could expand british the British empire.
